Sam’s Place, based at Harlow Fields School and College, provides a wide range of opportunities for social interaction and development for children and young people with a disability.
We work with children and young people aged 8 to 19 who live in the Harlow area.
Harlow Council run Sam’s Place in partnership with Essex County Council and Action For Children – who also run Essex Short Breaks, Clubs and Activities
Activities
Planned activity programmes are put together by the children and young people themselves with input from staff and volunteers.
Programmes include:
- cooking and healthy eating projects
- art and craft
- gardening
- physical and sporting activities
- music workshops
- positive citizenship activities
Sam’s Place staff are also sometimes able to take children and young people out on short trips to participate in social activities away from the school.
Saturday Club
9.30am to 12.15pm and 1.15pm to 4pm
Children and young people are able to attend on a fortnightly basis during school term time. Children aged 8 to 11 attend the morning session and young people aged 12 to 19 attend the afternoon session.
Play Scheme
10am to 3pm
Play Scheme operates 4 days a week during the Easter and summer school holidays and 2 days a week during the Christmas school holidays. Sessions are split into 2 age ranges of 8 to 11 and 12 to 19.
Transport to and from Saturday Club and Play Scheme can sometimes be provided for families who live in Harlow if they are unable to access the service otherwise.
Youth Club
6.30pm to 8.30pm
This service is available on Thursday evenings during school term time for children and young people aged 8 to 19 and is run by the Senior Community Play Worker and supported by a dedicated team of parent and carer volunteers.
