CARA (Centre for Action on Rape and Abuse) works with victims and survivors of sexual violence and child sexual abuse, providing independent, specialist support and promoting and representing their rights and needs.
CARA is a registered charity working with adults of all genders, young people and children from across mid and north Essex. We work from our head office in Colchester and from outreach premises in Braintree, Chelmsford, Clacton-on-Sea, Great Dunmow and Harwich.
Our services include:
- ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Adviser) support through the criminal justice system.
- Specialist counselling for adults and young people.
- Play therapy for children.
- Group work.
- Specialist advocacy.
If you would like to refer yourself for support at CARA you can do this through our online self-referral form  or you can phone us on 01206 769795.   We try to answer calls whenever we can, within office hours.
Out of office hours, or if we are unable to answer the phone, you can leave a message on our answerphone and we will return your call as soon as we can.
