Founded in 1951 and based in London, The Pakistan Society is a bilateral organisation with some five hundred members, most of whom are almost equally divided between those of British and Pakistani origin. The Society aims to increase public knowledge in Britain of the arts, history, geography, economic life and institutions of Pakistan. It does this through a series of lectures, meetings and social events, usually held at the High Commission for Pakistan. Its patrons are HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh and HE The President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Our motto, ‘Bringing Pakistan and Britain Together’, is as relevant today as it was when the Society came into being. The atmosphere of our meetings and events continues to be similar to that of a club.
